Got a question for owners of the Falcon Bucoo MEDIUM spinning rod - either the 6'6" medium or the 7' medium spinning (same specs, different length):  this rod is rated for 1/4 - 1/2 oz lures, but can it toss lighter baits good distances?  I'm specifically thinking 1/8 oz shaky heads, 4" senkos, wacky worms running the gamut from unweighted to 1/8 oz, or things of similar light weight (like small grubs, tubes, drop shot, etc).  don't need guesses or other ideas, just observations from actual owners/users.  Thanks in advance. 

 

 

I have the 7ft.  I throw 1/8  oz alot with it,using 20lb braid. I also switch out the spool of 20lb to a thinner braid under 1/8oz.

Those rods are both moderate action and not the best choice for bottom contact baits in my opinion. I have the 7' medium and it's great for smaller crankbaits and jerkbaits. 

I've never understood why falcon doesn't offer medium or medium light fast action spinning rods in the bucoo series. I would definitely buy some if they did. 

I use mine (7'MM) for dropshot and Ned Fishing.  No issues. It has plenty of power to drive a light wire hook home as well as keep the fish hooked. I think it works well with the 10lb braid I use having the moderate action helps more then henders me.  Now if you're trying to fish 4-6lb mono or thicker worms you might have issues, but from what you're asking I think you'll be okay.

The 7ft cranker spin is one of my favorite rods. The most versatile for sure. You wont be disapointed.

Really shines with shakyheads, 4 inch senkos and flukes

Remember.... worms weigh something too. So a 1/8 head with a worm probably weighs at least 1/4 oz.

As far as weight rating your fine throwing 1/8 shakey head and worm, but as stated it's a more moderate rod. Not the best for bottom dragging plastics.

Makes for a mean bandit 100 or rebel crayfish rod though.

X2...I've noticed Fenwick is getting to be the same way. I love a 7' Medium power fast action. More and more moderate spinning rods these days, especially $100ish or less.
