Fishing Opener Report

Featured Replies

Today is fishing opener and I'm already back from fishing so here's what happened. The weather was sunny with 5-15 mile per hour wind. Yesterday it was about 90 but today was low to mid 60s. We mainly fished shallow along the shoreline and in a cove. I caught 4 bass all between 12-16 inches all on a booyah boo jig. I also caught a pike. I also had one bass get chased by a loon and get off because it jumped. Overall a good day of fishing to start the year.

Good start.

Good first day, it sure would suck only being able to fish for half of the year.

I am from Milwaukee and we had a rough time down here as well.... 20mph winds, 2ft waves, and some rain. Crap conditions, should have just stayed home.

Here in NE PA the weather hasn't been too good either. A lot of rain and a bit chilly. I finally got my boat put back together and took it out for a ride today and I think I have all the bugs worked out so tomorrow we are probably going to attempt to catch a few or one maybe. It should clear up by noon and be a bit warmer than it has been.

Down here in FL. the weather has been GREAT and LMB CHEWING !

We're open all year for catch and release now, but this weekend may as well have been an opener for me too, since my schedule keeps me mostly grounded until May.  I finally got out friday morning and earlier today for a few hours each; 5  bass total, including my first ever on a drop shot and my first ever on a spybait! Two others on a homemade (also a first!) bladed jig.
