Bass Competition Ideas

Featured Replies

Heading to Lake Anna next week with a buddy. We are both bringing our boats and I was trying to think of some fun competitions we could do against each other. Anyone have ideas?

Next week? I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that place on a holiday weekend LOL!!

Seriously though be careful.

You have an 8 hour day, you can break Anna down into 8 areas, fish an hour in each and see who can figure each one out best, if you want to put a little monetary pressure on each other, loser of the first half of the day buys lunch, second half buys dinner.

Ideas:

1.  Regular five fish limit with none smaller than 12-inches based on weight.

2.  Keep a record of the weight and length of all fish species caught and the total weight of all fish wins.

3.  No more than three bass and two bluegills or other sunfish family members based on weight.

4.  Expand #3 to include three bass and any other two fish based on weight.

5.  Very difficult challenge but you guys only throw one type bait - being of the same kind, such as a shaky head or a Senko, square bill, etc. Based on total weight.

6.  Fish with Nighcrawlers, only. Each guy has the same number of worms and that is all you can use. Based on weight.

7.  Number of different species of fish caught by using cell phone cameras to take photos or you can keep them in your live well. Just make sure any stripers and bass are of the legal limit.

I am sure the guys can add to this list.

Have fun and wave at the jet skiers for me.

2 rods, each with one lure of your choice and the other with same for both of you, then 3 biggest bass, total weight then biggest bluegill. just to make it different.

Kiddie spin-cast rod tournament, the short mini ones.

seriously, years ago, my daughter caught a 5 lb jack on a tigger rod, we initially thought she was snagged on the bottom.

Me and a friend did a total length tournament since we didn't have scales then.Just total every fish's length for the day.To make it fun, we divided the lake into 4 sections and switched every hour.I started at one end and him at the other. One interesting thing that happened was that right as we passed halfway down the lake he caught a 21.5 inch fish.He had just got out of sight and I caught one that was 21.5 on the other side of the lake!!.I ended up winning by 8 inches.I caught more but his were bigger overall.

Loved the suspense of not knowing what he had caught until the end.But you could take abreak in the middle to compare results.
