I have been researching lately on what line to use fishing senkos and I get a big variety but mostly braid onto a flourocarbon leader but I just think that would be too much of a hassle buying all those different types of line and tying on leaders I looked on Gary Yamamos website and he said he uses 16 lb flouro but I was wondering if that would sink way too slow or if it decreases the action of the bait at all I have 17 lb flouro already and to tie that on would be a lot easier but I wanted to check in first to see if It was the right decision I'm gunna go ahead and say thanks in advance to anyone who responds to my question ????

i don't think it matters that much, just whatever you have confidence in.  i've been using 15# braid lately with no issues.

What sized senkos are your throwing, where are you fishing (e.g. docks/open water/mats), and with what rod and reel?

I typically use 5" senkos with a MF rod with a baitcaster.  I've used braid (with and without leaders) in the past but currently using straight 12lb fluorocarbon.  My experience is/was positive on all accounts.

I use 20lb braid with a 17-25 lb fluoro leader. 

Yeah - I have used both straight flouro and braid + flouro leader, both work well. I am currently using 30# PowerPro with a 15# Seaguar Red Label leader (around 7 foot or so). I like the hook setting power braid provides especially on long casts.

Fluoro for sure if you want some decent sink.  I don't feel I need more than 12# fluoro fishing it weightless.  I will go down to 10# fluoro and a M/M rod when using an octopus hook and no weight.

I've used braid, mono and fluorocarbon for senko fishing. I have a preference for 12 to 17 pound floro on casting gear. I use12 and 14 pound mono as well with no issues. The floro is a bit more sensitive and has a little less stretch on a longer hook set. I'm sure braid with a floro leader is great, but I'm a minimalist and hate tying leaders. 

In open-light cover I use 12lb. Fluoro.  In heavier cover I use 30lb braid.

On spinning tackle I've been using mono for decades and have caught a lot of fish with it. Senkos, whatever, it doesn't matter. I don't care for floro or braid on spinning reels. Floro is tangle city  and braid is just so darn noisy on spinning outfits.   On my baitcasters I prefer braid with a 6 ft floro leader for Senkos or anything else.

Gary Yamamoto also fishes braid as mainline
plus a long leader of fluorocarbon.

I also fish braid mainline and will tie on a copoly
leader up to 6 feet in length with pound test from
6-15, but mostly 8 & 10.

The braided mainline is best for management
on spinning gear (and I use it on casting, too).
Since braid is pricey, the leader helps you save
mainline. You just cut down and retie on your
leader during the day and only cut your braid
when you need to tie on a new leader.

I use 14# Sniper on my "all around" baitcaster setup which includes throwing a stick bait.

There are only 3 things I'll add to what everyone's already said:

1) don't engage reel until bottom contact/fish on. 

2) I use a 4-5 offset hook because I like the way it falls better then 3 or EWG. 

3) this is the best follow-up bait out there. When I miss with a frog, I'm tossing a senko and cleaning up with it. It's applications are truly endless.

I only fish senkos weightless with 8lb mono.  dont like fluoro on spinning reels and I dont like braid for this application
