Momma had a hair appointment tonight, so it was just me and the boy. He's been asking to go fishing almost every night for a couple weeks now, but triple digit temps and a 2.5 year old don't mix well. Tonight was much cooler, and we had an hour to kill before bedtime so why not? I was casting and hooking them, Lake was cranking them in and cheesing it up for the camera. Sunfish and little kids were made for each other. 30 minutes, and 15 sunfish of an assorted variety later, we threw some rocks in the creek and called it a night. All he talked about on the way how was when we are going fishing next.

That's what it's all about, captured in a few photos. Congrats on some fine memories.

heck ya!

Some of the best times of my life were spent fishing with my dad.

Looks like a beautiful place to fish!

that's some awesome scenery there Clayton.  little man's got a nice little reel on that dock demon rod too!  he looks like he had a good time, but i'd almost bet you had as much or more fun.  there's something magical about a little kid catching fish!

Terrific. I have a 2.5 y/o son myself, and we've gone out together too a bunch. He loves it. Even learning how to cast (in a fashion) as well. Good job sir!

My little cousin got started up on a dock demon too

Wait til your son gets upset if you hand him a closed face reel because "I want to use the nice one".

Thats awesome. I look forward to sharing those moments with my children. We have our first on the way (due any day now) and i cannot wait to introduce her to fishing with daddy. I have several fishing items already from the wife and other family members. Those moments are what life is about.

I'll be doing more of that this weekend.  We are headed to the lake with the whole family and friends and I keep 4 dock demons down there on the dock.  Just pick up some worms and we have hours of entertainment for all the kids.  I have a 3.5 yr old and a 1.5 yr old, both boys, they love "petting" the fish once I take it off the hook and really like releasing them.  The 1.5 yr old is stubborn and won't let you help him hold the rod, unfortunately he also likes to throw the rod in the water once he gets a chance so we rigged him up with the broken reel, removed the hook, and made his bobber a pool noodle so we can retrieve the rod and do it all over again.
