Curado 70i for flipping/pitching?? Line capacity

Featured Replies

Anyone with this reel use it for dedicated flipping and pitching?  Really love the way it palms. Since the reel has a low line cap what are you using for line?

id really like to use 18-20 pound fluro but may have to use braid and tie a leader.

I know I could get a 200 series but really like how the 70 feels on a flipping stick.

If it's for flipping and pitching it doesn't need to hold much line.   You can use 20 lb fluoro with no problems at all.

I can't think of many bass fishing techniques other than large swimbaits or a rigs that this reel wouldn't have enough line capacity for.  Most spool hold too much line and people use backing as a filler so they don't spend as much on their primary line.

I have 3  70's and love them for pitching......I also like the fact that the spool doesn't hold much line. .....i can fill all 3 reels with one 200 yard spool of 15lb Seaguar Abrazx Fluorocarbon and be set for the season.....Makes the $20.00 for the spool of high quality fluorocarbon seem not so expensive.
