i will be fishing a northern MA lake in a few weeks i will be fishing from a dock. water is gin clear about 20 feet legit. the bottom is sand, gravel and leaves. lots of bass, 12in or bigger. spring fed. caught them on a dropshot and swagger jig this year. i want to throw:

jerkbait

dd crank

dropshot

texas rig

I'm with you on all but the crank, never had much luck on one in really clear water except very early or late in the year.

 

Swimming a grub or Keitech would be another bait I'd add. 

 I would add a shakey head and ol' ned ,especially if you don't have any wind or clouds.

I fish clear northern lakes a lot. If you go with the texas rig keep your colors somewhat natural. I like t rigged yum dingers and I fish green pumpkin, watermelon red flake or sometimes something a bit brighter like watermelon pie. Anything thats close to green pumpkin or slightly translucent should be fine. I dont shy away from a little bit of yellow or orange however because one of the main forage species up north is the yellow perch. Northern bass tend to be more aggresive so a spook is also a great choice. I like to use then when the water is flat or slightly choppy in the morning or afternoon. I do best when the belly of the spook is a chrome color however I have had luck with white and even chartreuse.

thanks, i caught 4 bass on a cotton cordell crank there last fall so it might work, won't be my go to though

 

 

When I used to fish some gun clear strip pits that look a lot like what your fishing. I never had any lucky with topwaters. Most of my fish came on t rigged senkos (weightless), weighted rage claws/lobsters and drop shorting finesse worms and kietech easy shiners. Good luck out there!
