Lews Team Lite vs Lews Tournament Pro G

Recommended Posts

Hey guys Im looking for a reel to go on my new 7'mh Lews Custom Speed Stick Mag Bass rod. This will be a dedicated spinnerbait rod. Ive got it narrowed down to either a Lews Team Lite or a Lews Tournament Pro G. I will be getting either reel in 6.8:1 ratio. I was pretty dead set on the team lite but I have a few issues with durability of the frame and carbon side plates. I wouldnt say that im overly rough with equiptment but im probably more rough than some. So I was wondering if there was going to be a durability issue with the team lite? Ive read great things about both reels and was just wondering which one you guys would go with. Thanks for all the help.

I have two of each, you will never have a problem with durability.

Do you want a lighter reel or one that feels more stable? Nothing that light feels stable/sturdy.

I own more than one: Magnesium, lite, Tourney Pro, MB and BB1. They're all rock solid. Buy the one you like the feel of.

The MB was a huge surprise. Casts a mile, it's super smooth and rugged, just add a 95mm handle to complete it. I've been using it for toads and frogs. Smoken good reel.

However: If Lews offered only one reel, I would hope for it to be the Tournament Pro/Pro G.

I can vouch for the MB's. I run one on my frog, square bill, chatter bait, and swig jig setups. For the price I don't see how you could do any better.

As for performance I can't tell the difference between any of my Lew's Team reels. I think I have every model now and price is about the only difference.

I would agree the Pro G is the happy medium of price and performance with them. Like I mentioned before the weight is the only thing you will really notice between those two you are considering.

So which reel did you buy?

I feel the same way. I don't like reels that feel like they will break in my hands. I looked at the Pro Lite a few weeks ago, and then I held the Pro G in my hands. I went with the Pro G. Fantastic reel so far. It was my first bait caster. I will probably continue to buy them for the next two rods I plan on buying soon.

I just replaced my Team Lites with the Team Pro Magnesiums. Had them install Boca OS7 bearings in them and they outcast and out handle every comboI've tried. I'm a certified dealer so I don't have to grab the jar of Vaseline everytime I get a new one, but if you buy Lew's, you'll never go wrong. Set them up right and you'll never have to worry about backlash.
