Hey guys, I wanted to get a rod protector as I have a nice shimano crucial casting rod. I was wondering what you guys recommend as the best brand whether it be the stick jacket, rod glove, or the BPS one. I have heard complaints about all of them. I would really appreciate your advice.

i don't know.  I have the BPS brand and have no complaints.  The one thing that would be nice is to have the bottoms wrapped as mine are open and treble baits can grab it once i na while but ultimately, it isn't that big of a deal.

Check out TRC rod covers. Veteran owned and operated, have built in tip protection, they float and theyre not overly expensive. I think for an extra .50 cents he can actually label the rod cover for you.

They all do the same thing. I personally use all Rod Glove one's, but that's only because my tournament partner uses a different brand, and I don't want to get ours mixed up. 

Not the cheapest, so I don't expect many to buy these first, but after the fifth or sixth time you get a hook stuck in the netting-type socks, you'll be coming back to this thread:

i much prefer the rod glove brand.  made very well and woven tight enough that the guides don't pop through it often or at all.

Stick Jackets for me.  Micro guide tips poke through most every other rod sock/glove/sleeve I've tried.  Also super easy to untangle hooks.  

You can make your own super cheap, just google "expandable wire sleeve" and watch a couple of YouTube videos on how to make the rod covers.  Rod Glove, Rod Sox, etc, that's basically all they are.

Another vote for The Rod Glove. I originally started out with just buying the reel gloves and decided to stick with the same company for the rod socks too. 

TRC Covers are probably the 6th brand of covers I've purchased. I'd get two here and two there from random companies, thinking they're all the same.

However, TRC are the best, even in the "simple" style covers, which are inexpensive. I like how slender the "simple" baitcast sleeves are.
