Question for Glenn

Featured Replies

Glenn, in watching your review of Seaguar flippin' braid I saw that the stripper on your rod is only about 8-10in. in front of the reel. Is that a telescopic rod, or is the stripper fixed at that point for a reason. I'm not familiar with flippin'rods. Thanks, Lynn

I think that's the Okuma Matt Daddy, which has a guide close to the reel for the purposes of easier flipping.

By "stripper", I assume you mean the first eyelet on the rod, nearest the reel.  So in that context...

It's not a telescopic rod.  It's an Okuma Mat Daddy flippin' stick.  That eyelet is there on purpose, so that when you flip, you grab the line between the 1st and 2nd eyelet, instead of between the first guide and the reel.  This makes is virtually impossible to get tangled.

I have a full review on the rod here - it's literally the exact rod/reel that's in the video: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/tcs-cerros-reel.html

Exactly what Glenn said.  I actually have wanted there to be a guide there on rods that I flip with.

Thanks for the responses guys. I learn a lot on here. And DVT I actually am a custom builder, for family and friends, just very little exposure to flippin' sticks. thanks again, Lynn
