Jigs

Featured Replies

So Glenn May had that video of fishing jigs come out yesterday and like a fishing addict I had to watch it. Now I'm in the mood to try out jigs again. I've  had success on them very few times. Is there a better time of day to fish these? Will I be able to fish them from shore? Also do I need to put any sent On them like I do with my soft plastic worms.

365 days, anytime of the day or night.

you can fish them from shore but you might lose a few because youre working them uphill.

id start with small jigs (1/4oz or so) with 3" trailers to build confidence. id start with green pumpkin or black.

sometimes the fish want it presented very slow.

scent is up to you, some swear by it.

hope that helps some!

IMHO a scent will get you a few more bass. I do not think it generates more "bites" but it ups your chances of detecting a strike as I believe a bass may hold onto your jig long enough for you to know it is there. If my trailer is already heavily scented (like Paca Craws are) I do not feel the need to add scent.

Very good tips here & +2 on the MegaStrike scent. Also, click on the sponsor link on the right for Siebert Outdoors. IMO the best jigs for the money out there.
