:welcome:  to the forum.

Always a good place to start looking for a rod if you haven't already read it.

Also it would be a big help if you gave a few specifics.  Spinning or baitcast?  Budget?  Lure weights?  Type of cover you normally fish in?

I would want a spinning reel and probably something 20-60       dollars. Most of the time I'll fish with a soft plastic or live bait and fish in areas that have sandy bottoms and some weeds. Other    areas with somewhat of a rocky bottom.

The Pflueger Trion is a nice reel ($40), but can be found at Walmart Online for about $31.  They ship free to a local store.  Look at FFO (Fisherman's Factory Outlet) for a low cost rod.  You will have to pay shipping, but it was $9.60 for me when I ordered a $58.88 rod and free with a $75 rod.  Look at the Berkley Lightning or Amp, Abu Vengeance or even a Berkley Cherrywood.

Ok thank you! I'll look at them now.

I would say the daiwa advantage on this sight would be impossible to beat.  Its a great reel and retailed around 200
