Hard Swimbaits

Recommended Posts

Curious if you folks use these - I've got some soft plastic swims and was considering adding a hard swimbait to the collection in the future.

Single or multi-joint?  Brand?  Type/Size for bass, etc.

Thanks!

what exactly do you mean by hard bodied swimbait? are you referring to a bait like the spro bbz-1 or something much smaller?

Since I'm new, Amazon is the place I just look for most things.

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dsporting&field-keywords=hard+swimbait

That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about - as for the spro - wow, those are expensive!  Look impressive as hell though!

I have several:

Fish Arrow Monster Jack and Monster Jack Junior,

Imakatsu Husky Hasuzzy and Cofunazzy

Gan Craft Jointed Claw

Lucky Craft Real California and Amago

However I have to say, my " luck " with big crankbait like swimbaits has been less than stellar, the biggest fish I caught with any of them is a 6 and a half pounder, they just don't produce beeg mommas for me.

Don't waste money on cheap hard  swimbaits, 1 good swimbait out fishes 5 cheap swimbaits.

Check out the Jackall Gantarel Jr or River2Sea S-Wavers.  One thing to keep in mind is that In another post you mentioned you only had a M power spinning rod - a lot of hard swimbaits have some weight to them and may not cast well on that setup.  One hard swimbait that I've thrown on spinning gear without issues is a Jackall Giron (glidebait), and at 3/4 of an ounce is just at the edge of where I'd make the weight cutoff.

You are correct, suggested lure weight for my rod is 3/16-5/8oz.
