Norris Lake?

Featured Replies

I'm heading to Norris lake this weekend and was wondering if anyone has been fishing it. This will be my first time on this lake so any tips or info is welcomed!

I do not fish it but I can tell you you it is a deep clear water lake with a lot of boat traffic. It also is down about 20 ft so be careful.

Al, i see youre from Dandridge.  You fish Douglas very often?

My wife and i come and camp there at the Anchor Down RV resort on the lake.  Have never been able to go out there on a bass boat, but take my jon boat with me from time to time.  Only been twice, and the lake has been WAY WAY WAY down both times.  Is that normal?  And how is the fishing on that lake?  Ive only been able to manage a couple of dinks by the rocks there close to the campground.

Yes it is normal for the lake to be down. They drop it 20 to 30 feet every year  starting around August 1 .  It can be a great bass lake from what everyone says but I have never fished it much.  There are lots of big tournaments Even bassmaster

Sorry for delay in response, have been on vacation. I have stopped tournament bass fishing but Douglas has very good bass fishing and very good crappie fishing as well. Most of my fishing is in the winter months now for crappie, just can't deal with the heat.

TVA starts to drop the lake level around labor day to reach winter pool. Winter pool varies from year to year but is usually around a 50 ft drop. You learn to live with it, lol. Actually the lake fishes better, for me, at the lower levels.

BTW Anchor Down RV Resort is really nice compared to most of the parks on the lake. I live near the Point Resort up the lake from you. Actually near point 8 if you are familiar with the lake.
