Metanium XT

Featured Replies

Is $150 a fair price for an XT? I found one that is in really good condition and i'm trying to decide if I should buy it. It is a 6.2:1 ratio what rod would go with it well for around $150?

Depends on which version, how old, what condition, etc....

I believe it is the 2006 model but it is in excellent condition.

That's a bit on the high side of a fair price.  If it's well maintained and cherry condition, get it.  Those reels are bullet proof.

Personally, I'd go with a Chronarch Ci4+ or a Curado 200E/2001 Series. You can find a couple Chronarchs floating around for around $170-$200, or $90-$120 on the Curado I series. In terms of a rod, it depends on what you are looking to do, but a Dobyns Fury/Sierra series or an o.m.e.n black would do just fine.

150 in good condition it´s a fair price.

It´s one of the best Metaniums ever made ( even though the Chronarch B it´s domestic equivalent was a better reel, because it was available in 3 versions and had metal deposition finish while the Metanium was just painted ).

Thats an ok price, not really good though. Those reels can be had for around $115-$130 in good condition on the auction site. Ive had a bunch of those reels, and they are great. I paired mine with a MH 7'-7'3" rod, works well for me. The MG usually fetches in the $150 range, another great reel.
