Do you ever throw deep cranks like a 6XD, 8XD, 10xd?

No I don't throw any deep cranks because I fish mostly ponds but thanks for asking? Mostly bass and no I don't have a flipping rod I just use my frog jig rod for it mostly but that's a good idea any specific combos you would recommend

Assuming your crankbait rod is suitable for topwater, really seems like you have the basics covered then. Maybe your next rod could be one similar to one you already have. Are there ever times you would like to have a spinnerbait and a buzzbait or chatterbait tied on? A Texas rig and a jig or maybe a Carolina rig?

Can't throw topwater on cranking rod has floro on it

Do you throw topwater enough to justify buying one specifically for it? Maybe double as a jerkbait rod as well? I use mono for both, you?

Yeah I probably do lol but if I bought one I would probably wait till next season because I wouldn't be able to use very long I guess it could double for something else like a jerk bait but I don't really throw those much

If it's a buzz bait yeah but something like a spook the floro my have a little affect on the action I actually want to get into some top waters but I have floro on my crank rod too I'm thinking of switching the line to suffix siege

Do you stop fishing during the Winter?  Here in the Ozarks the jerkbait is pretty dominant for most of the Winter.

Well ice fishing kicks in in a couple months

We're right at the freeze line here. The lakes in the northern part of the state freeze but the ones in the Southern half usually don't.

I'm not going to this year this is my first year of solid bass fishing I'm only 13 and in about April I really got serious with bass fishing I probably fish 6 days a week . But I just can't stand throwing a jerk I don't know what it is but I'm trying to challenge my self to throw them more and become a more well rounded angler

you have a jig/frog/texas rig rod,...did you ever consider, keeping this rod for frogs, and getting a "jig" rod, and a "texas rig" rod? or getting a topwater rod,? re-tying all the time stinks

That's awesome man. Glad to hear you're into it. Jerkbaits, like a lot of other techniques, may require you to have a good day with them or maybe a really big fish to gain confidence in them. I'm pretty confident when I say if you fish one some this late Winter and early Spring you will have that day. I won't be surprised if your biggest fish of the year is caught on one. Mine has been many times.

That is a good idea. I feel your pain on re-tying you are not the only one me too I would keep that rod for jigs probably what are your favorite specs and brands

Yeah that would be the time to throw them for me because I live in Oklahoma and that's when the ponds don't have a lot of moss and they clear up quite a bit so that would really be ideal jerk bait time too what would be your ideal rod for jerkbaits specs, brand whatever

St croix triumph with a shimano citica comes out to about $250 but is a nice combo

I thought about getting a shimano but the number of bearings kind of scares me. Are they still smooth?

Well some ppl like fast while others like med-fast or moderate if you blaze your baits go with a med-fast or moderate the reason be is because when you jerk the bait through the water with  fast you pull the jerk bait much farther than a moderate due to the bend and it is also a treble hook lure so moderate does good for that too

forgot to mention for brands u can't go wrong with Diawa shimano or lews
