Could be an allergy, though my GF can drink beer, but can't touch reds without a classic allergic reaction - red ears, swollen lips, rash.

    Also, one my favorite, reasonble reds is DaVinci Chianti Reserva.  Usually around $12-14 a bottle.

    Went through 2 bottles of  a 2005 Quintessa Rutherford once at a company Christmas party. Probably the best I've ever had. Our server made it sound exquisite. For the price, it should have come with some physical attention if you know what I mean!!!
