Maybe...there are a lot of rods out there. I haven't felt many of them but I decided early on what components were important to me. Guides, reel seat and grip among the most important.  Narrow down the reel seat and grip you like and buy rods with those features.  I'm sure at various price points some companies blanks are better or worse than others but if the rod isn't comfortable to hold what does it matter?

anyways that's my 2 cents on rod purchasing.

Might be a bit underpowered for jig fishing. Definitely wouldn't throw a jig over 1/2oz with a 6'8" MH.  Great rod for spinnerbaits and light wire swim jigs on 12# fluoro imo.

What the difference between a spinnerbait/chatter bait and a jig ?

Now they are not seriously suggesting this is a good choice to throw 2 ounce swimbaits with, but they said it did it without feeling overloaded.  They were amazed by how well this rod operated outside its recommended specs. I purchased one of these rods partially based on its' review. I agree it makes a terrific all purpose rod. I purchased it mainly to throw 1/4 to 3/4 ounce swimjigs, regular jigs and texas rigged creature baits. This is a great rod around docks, rocks etc. I am sure the Duckett would be as good. This would not be a rod I would choose to be ledge fishing Lake Chicamagua with while throwing a 3/4 to 1 ounce jig.  I would do that with some 7'3" foot to 7'6" heavy stick. 

Good choice brotha I'm sure it will get the job done I have a 6'8 mh ghost for jig and worms and the blanks are  phenomenal!

Not sure what you mean.  The rod difference?

Open hooks compared to a thick hook with a weed guard that you need to bury on the hookset.
