Rod and Reel Arsenal

Featured Replies

As of right now, I have a Lews Speed Spool and it's paired with a St. Croix Mojo Bass. My bday is in late November and of course Christmas is later. I know good brands for rods and reels and the like, but what kind should I look for as a second combo? I use he one right now for mainly Texas rigs and I don't know what to go with next. Should I go cranking or topwater or??

I vote for cranking! And also pls get a shimano this next time around! I highly recommend them.

If you don't have a spinning set up I'd go with that. If you do have that I'd go with a heavier setup for things like frogs and smaller swimbaits, along with pitching/flipping

Got something different in power than what you have, if you have medium then get MH, fast action for all around rod.

Definitely get something that doesn't overlap with what you have. I'd look at getting a moving bait combo, like a 7ft m/mh fast action rod. But what do you throw most often other than a t-rig? You might want to check out that Mach1 Lew's combo that's out right now. It's the white and green one, my buddy got one this spring and we've used it all season and it is holding up very well.

I'd go with something with more tip like a good all around spinnerbait rod thats not too long. good for spinnerbaits, topwater, jerkbaits, squarebills, rattle traps, and swim baits. Pretty much any moving bait, might not be the best choice for deep crankin but would work at that too. I have a 6'3" castmaster spinnerbait special that i've had for 10+years. Still probably catch more bass on it than all others because its so versatile. Also a bit shorter for tight casting situations.

...or vice versa .
