Aldebaran HG and BFS spools interchangeable?

Featured Replies

I have a 2016 Aldebaran 51 HG that jumps around 4 of my rods, its time to purchase another.

I am interested in the 2016 BFS XG Aldebaran but would like to put a deeper spool (stock 2015 Aldebran) on it to throw light jigs on a BCR803 with the XG ratio.

I would like to use the shallow BFS spool on the 2015 Aldebaran and purchase another normal spool to have 3 spools and 2 reels with different retrieve ratios.

Is this possible? Are the 2015 and 2016 BFS spools interchangeable?

Also, is there any difference in these two reels besides the spools? Would the shallow spool on the 2015 Aldebaran not cast light lures as well as it does on the 2016 BFS version?

Thanks!

Ask at TW, they should know.

Thanks, Raul. I called Shimano previously and they did not know as the BFS version is JDM only.

I called tacklewarehouse per your advice but they were not familiar with the reel either.

I will report back when I find out, in case someone finds this in a search.

E-mail JUN at Japantackle, he might be able to help you.

apparently it wont work, brake profiles are different.

The bfs has a magnetic braking system. And a different side plate to match it. So don't believe it would work
