  1. I tried out some 30# seaguar in stealth grey and it was the absolute worst line I have ever used. It did nothing but break from the very first cast and continue to fray.
  2. I have an Aldebaran BFS and its truly amazing, it can cast such incredibly light lures very far and it weighs practically nothing while still being super smooth.
  3. The zodias is actually the rod I was looking at believe it or not. But when you say the 7' do you mean the glass?
  4. I wanna hear from you guys, what is your ideal rod for throwing keitechs, more specifically the 3.8 and 4.3 size on weightless and 1/8oz swimbait hooks. Thanks!
  5. I have the 7'2" legend glass and couldn't be happier throwing 5-12 ft cranks on it
  6. I own 5 LTB's and couldn't enjoy them more. I have the 7'1" medium power fast action and i think that for throwing cranks it would work fairly nicely, produce very long cast and it has a soft tip, but you also may want the forgivingness of the moderate action
  7. I use my 70 for a lot of the purposes you listed, such as t-rigs, light jigs, topwaters, small keitechs and of course flipping and pitching. The line capacity isn't minimal, you can still cast extremely far and have plenty of line to spare.
  8. Dont believe there to be a difference between JDM and US Aldebaran 50 spool, but there is a difference with the JDM Aldebaran BFS, having the FTB magnetic braking system
  9. Ive been fortunate to fish and own some high end reels such as the Met DC, Met MGL, Aldebran BFS, Core 50 and so on. I can say that each one of those reels performs amazing but each one does at least one thing better than all the others. IMO the Met MGL performs all the task of everyday fishing the best, I've gotten it to throw very light rigs exceptionaly far for not being a BFS reel, And of course heavier rigs far. But the US aldebaran 50 is an incredible reel, it can throw light rigs and up to 1/2 oz jigs very nicely.
  10. I just received my 16' shimano aldebaran BFS from japan I did the conversions and it holds about 50 yards of 8lb line. I purchased the new seaguar finesse fluro in 6lb and the sufix nano braid in 6lb. Im going to be using it for light applications like ned rigs, shakey heads and wacky rigs. Should I go with the fluoro, the braid or the braid with leader? thanks for the help
  11. The stile or aldebaran 50 would be your best bet. I own the BFS 6:5:1 and the line capacity is veryyyyy low. And there's nothing wrong with that... I just don't think that reel would be suit for your applications.
  12. Should be able to find some on ebay
  13. Hmmm... not what I was wanting to hear... Its like a weird tick/ grinding Is it the Anti reverse ratchet that would need replacing? http://fish.shimano.com/media/fishing/shimano/sac/images/schematics/Low_Profile_Baitcasting/Current_Models/Metanium_MGL/16METAMGL_OVS_HGR_v1_m56577569831025913.pdf heres the parts list if you could tell me what I need to replace Thanks -Gavin
  14. Mine kicks in as well you just have to pitch it far enough or fast enough
  15. I love my met DC, its only .5 oz heavier than my MGL so no big deal for me. Only downside in my opinion is you have to get the spool rotating fast enough for the DC to actually kick in (no super short pitches or cast) But I find that I can cast very light lures just fine, I have mainly been throwing a 3.8 inch keitech on a weightless screwlock hook very far... just my opinion though
  16. So I recently purchased a second metanium mgl as I absolutely loved the first one I purchased. Btw I ordered both of these from Japan. Anyways the reel came with the drag completely off and I engaged the handle and began reeling and it made a very bad noise/vibration and grinding. But when I turn the drag on it doesn't do this but still makes a slight noise. My first one didn't do this. I Would appreciate if someone could tell me what's wrong
  17. Its weird, I use a lefty spinning reel and a righty baitcaster... I think it may just have something to do with the way we were taught or first started
  18. as to this I'm really unsure, sorry...
  19. So i just learned this from so i just learned this from japan tackle: 4 modes, FL: fluorocarbon line mode, P: PE braided line mode, NM: Nylon monofilament mode, X: extreme long cast mode. Please set one from these 4 to suite your line chosen. X should be chosen to cast the longest with heavier than 5/8oz rigs. heres the link if you want to read http://japantackle.com/shimano-16antares-dc.html and from my understanding there is no spool tension because there is no need for one
  20. the 2016 antares DC does not have a tension control knob on the side by the handle.
  21. I have a 15' met dc but it has the DC5 chip compared to the DC4X8 system in yours, I would recommend going on youtube and clicking on some of the videos, yes they may be in Japanese or another language but the graphics itself might help, anyways my main tip would be to comment in the comment section as most of them speak english knowing from experience and they might be able to help you set it up. But from what I know theirs a dial on the outside that is an external adjustment with minimum and maximum braking, as for the inside I think theres A,W,L,X modes A= Accuracy mode W= Wind mode L= Long distance X= Extreme distance This link should help as its the same system just modernized http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanocalaisdcreviewpg2.html Hope this helps!
  22. Im looking to sell my jdm met mgl
  23. I forgot to mention that. I have a abu Garcia review premier on a st. Croix 7'0" medium power fast action I might look into getting another. I was looking at the new ci4 Don't do any deep crankin or a-rig fishing. But now that I just purchased a boat I might be looking into those since I will be fishing at depth now
  24. I feel like I have most of the setups I need for most of bass fishing but what else is there that I might need and is there any corrections you guys think should be made? I have a Cranking rod- St.Croix 7'2" medium glass moderate action rod with shimano chrnoarch ci4 (I use it for squarebills and medium depth cranks, also use for spinnerbaits/chatterbaits) Finesse baitcaster- St. Croix legend tourney 6'10" medium extra fast action with shimano aldebaran Jig rod- St. Croix legend tourney 7'1" medium heavy extra fast action (want to get a met mgl or met dc) Texas rig rod- St. Croix legend tourney 7'1" medium power fast action with shimano core 50mg7 All purpose rod - St. Croix legend tourney 7'1" medium heavy fast action with shimano metanium mgl Topwater rod- St. Croix avid x 6'8" medium power extra fast action with shimano scorpion 70 Unweighted plastics rod/ jerkbait rod- St. Croix legend tourney 6'8" medium power fast action with shimano curado 70 Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for the help!
