rod for new (to me) Curado 300ej

Featured Replies

Looking to fish my curado with live and cut bait for reds and black drum in saltwater, and flatheads in freshwater.  Ill be putting 30 or 40 lb power pro.  Sinker 1-2 oz.  Bait 3-6 inches.  I use circle hooks.  Thinking I want a moderate action rod?  What do y'all think?

Legend Glass from st croix?  Or new Bass X 7'11"?  I'm open to something not st croix.

Or opinions on the Chad Ferguson Rod over at Whisker Seekers?

Any recommendations?

The Ugly Stick Tiger rods would probably be a good fit for you. They're popular with the catfish guys around here and I assume would do well for you in the salt also.

39"  27# caught on a 7' 843 RX7 Rainshadow  custom and a Quantum Smoke 100HPT.

Don't go too heavy,  you'll take all the fun out of it...

Went with the st croix Bass X 7'4" MH mod fast.

Damaged in shipping and returned to sender... Amazon.  Hope it doesnt take too long to arrive!

Ill hopefully test it on some reds/ black drum over christmas and see how it handles a bigger blue cat/flathead, you know... when I hook one.

I'll report back.
