Featured Replies

Just got a Revo SX 30 for my Veritas 7' M rod. Reel seems a bit small but i chose it because it has the line size and capacity i need. Should i have gotten a 40 size to pair up with this rod ? I have a Veritas 6'9" ML i could move the 30 to

How does it feel when it is mounted to the rod?  That should be okay for that rod.

there is no right/wrong sizing of reel to rod , it's about what works for you (line capacity, weight, balance , comfort, etc..) i use a 1000 size reel on a 7'8'' rod and it works great for me , all answers to your question is opinions ......

One way to tell if your reel matches well with your rod (for spinning gear) is to see where the line lays in that first guide on the rod. Ideally, it should sit gently against the guide and/or not touch it at all. If there's a sharp angle of line between the reel and that first guide, you need to realize that every time you cast, retrieve, or reel in a fish, that line is going to be rubbing against that guide. Over time, that's going to damage your line.

Your good bro sx 30 matches perfectly I had the had the Stx 20 on a 6'6 medium rod and it matched just fine the 30 is perfect for a 7' foot rod.

Size is a personal preference, but I think anything over a 30, 300, 3000 size reel is overkill for bass fishing. What you have should work just fine.

The 20 or 30 would be fine. I have an Stx20 that balances well on my ML avid x 6'9
