Hey guys, So I was looking at the Daiwa Tatulas and I realized that the Daiwa tatula CT Type R is very cheap on Amazon. At least 30 dollars cheaper than on Tackle Warehouse. In the picture it looks like the regulas Daiwa Tatula CT, but in the reviews people claim it is the Type R. Looks like this is the Regular Tatula Type-R, not the CT Type R.  Still a great reel.

I think the CT palms a little better, so that might be reason enough to go with the CT Type R.  But, they're both great reels.

I picked up the Daiwa tatula ct for $89 on sportsmansoutfitters.it does palm better then the original. The difference between the ct and ct type r is the type r has 2 corrosion resistant bearings that's the main difference.type r has more red in the frame .the spool is supposed to be a bit lighter ,but that won't really won't affect performance in my opinion.all other specs are the same gear ration ,line capacity handle.thats why I bought  the regular ct it's a great buy.hope this helps good luck.

I believe the drag star is also different between the two.

Polymer on the CT and carbon fiber on the CT-R if I'm not mistaken.

I have gotten several of my daiwa's from American Legacy Fishing through ebay or their store. Tatula CT for $80 and Ct Type R for $120!

I have picked up some rods from American legacy two thumbs up .

 

 

I own one Exceler, 4 tatula Rs and 2 Tatula CTs. The CT is a bit smaller, but other than that you won't see much difference in casting distance or handling of lighter baits.  No matter to me, I like both versions. The biggest difference for me was an 8-1 left handed was only available in a Type R reel.  I manged to buy all of my Type Rs on sale for what a standard Tatula was going for. The difference in size is not much. MY first Type R Tatula replaced a Shimano Chronarch 200E7 and they are about the same size. Funny I never heard anyone complain that the Chronarchs were too big. If you like smaller reels get a CT.

I bought my Type R from Amazon for extra cheap because box was damaged. Reel was in perfect shape. 

 

The one shown on there is the Type R. Great reel. I love it, it is bulky and heavy. If you have small hands I don't recommend it.

 

I also have a CT. I love the CT, it weighs less and palms better. Great reel. I have ZR Bearings on both the Type R and the CT and they are an excellent upgrade. I was bombing a KVD 1.5 crank the other day. Then switched to a Yum Sharp Shooter (Dropshot bait) with a 1/16 oz bullet weight. No issue casting that with ease. Love these Tatulas.
