The Villages, FL

Featured Replies

Just found out I will be bank fishing many of the small lakes and ponds in The Villages in Florida the first weekend in February. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I've never fished the Villages but if you are fishing in South Florida means weeds and grass weighted trig worm can't go wrong.

weightless worms, small rapala's floaters.crappie sized crank baits work there also. mom has a friend that lives there and went with her and fished all around the small ponds and caught a ton of little ones. had a blast.

There is an active fishing club in the villages that meets on a regular basis.  They also put out information on the web.  You may be able to get information from them.

Let me know how you do and which ponds you are able to fish. My Grandmother lives down there and I'd like to try to hit some of the water down there on my next trip down!

Fishballer06 - I fished 4 straight days, caught bass everyday, last day was best though brought in 9 in about 4 hours, nothing over 3.5lbs and nothing under 2lbs. Fished a green pumpkin Senko on a weightless T-Rig. I checked Google maps and I can't find a name of the pond. It is on Palermo PL, off of Chula Vista Dr sandwiched between a post office and the Lady Luck Driving Range. I guess I could update my new PB to almost 3.5lbs but heading on a trip this weekend to TN, hope the new PB is bigger than that.

If I'm not mistaken, we had a young fellow on the board

who posted several head-cam videos taken in the Villages (his name escapes me)

Though I don't remember any wall-hangers, he did 'remarkably well'.

I'm right down the road, but that's all I can offer about the Villages.
