2017 Harrisburg outdoor show

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for a Minn Kota Talon, I was wondering if there are good deals at the outdoor show coming in February, can you purchase products at this show? Good deals?

I've gone to that show for years! Yes you can purchase some items. Depends on who's selling and what they're selling. Pricing seems to be fairly aggressive too. Oh and the show is HUGE!!!!

I go to this show a lot and you can find some good deals sometimes.  The show is huge so be ready to do some walking

I just checked the exhibitor list and it seems like it's more geared toward hunting.  Is this accurate?  I'm about 2 hrs away and thought about going but the lack of a fishing presence may be a deal breaker.

Yes it is definitely geared more towards hunting and guns.  There is a "fishing" section, however it is mostly outfitters and there is minimal fishing gear as a whole to be bought there. I don't think you will find a trolling motor for sale at the show.

I'm glad I read this before spending the gas and ticket money. I haven't gone in about 8 years, and this kind of stuff was the reason I threw in the towel. The Fishing section had turned into mostly outfitters, and they threw a bunch of other junk in fishing section like home gutter systems, bathtub fitters and booths selling salsa or jerky. There were maybe 5 booths selling tackle/lures.

In the 90s there would be dozens of lure dealers and tackle shops from all over, so many that I couldn't be sure we hit every booth... There were even a few girls wearing bikinis and holding signs advertising for some vendors... Those were the days. ;)

Thanks for the heads up!

It's more geared towards hunting, and specifically outfitters. If you're going hoping to see products, you might be disappointed. Expect to have outfitters and taxadermist's harassing you for your business.

To me...it's still a fun day and cool place to visit. I go with my dad and sons and it's better than a day at work!

I agree. My son of 10 years old then, (47 now) was impressed with an ice chest that had 4 dead salmon on ice. He called them "woppers", and still remembers that day. An outfitter had this sitting in front of his booth. Memories are forever.
