GPS/Sonar

Featured Replies

I've been wanting a GPS/Sonar SideView Scan , i'm looking at a Garmin EchoMap Chirp 73 Sv . Good One or Bad One , ive never had one all i've ever had is a Lowrance GPS/Sonar with a map Chip.  GodBless & Thanks For your Help

you should post in Electronics, hopefully  @Wayne P. will see and answer.

That is the same one I am looking at. Go ahead and buy it and then you can give me a report on it.:D

HB, Lowrance, and Garmin all make good products.  One thing I find invaluable is the addition of a chart card.  Some of the lower end units do not support this and the factory maps/charts are terrible.  Navionics + is the one I use.

How do You find this forum its not listed with the rest?

I found the forum thanks.

I've had the 73DV for a couple years now and love it.  I've recently added the 1042XSV which has SideVu.  These units are so easy to use.  The quick release on the 73 is great if you don't travel with your electronics hooked up or if your boat is stored in an unsecured place.  Takes about 2 seconds to hook up or take down.  The prices everyone has on the 73SV units now make them pretty hard to turn down.  You won't be disappointed.

I have found the built in maps on the Garmin to be excellent. The fact that you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars extra to buy map chips a big plus. The ability to create high def maps in real time even on the low end EchoMap series is a big benefit too.

Whats the difference between the Garmin EchoMap 73 SV With Chirp that something else i found, i'm lost They call it Striker Tm 7 SV . it says chirp on it , i know nothing about them. The more i look the more confused i am. GodBless & Thanks

The main difference between the 73sv and the 7sv is that there are no maps on the 7sv.  There is gps, so you can mark way  points, tracks, etc.  But there is no maps or a card slot for any mapping.

I have found the Garmin echomap 93sv with chirp & transducer for the same price as the Garmin echomap 73 sv chirp & transducer. I don't know what the difference is ,  the product reads the same as far as SV & Chirp , i don't know which to get i'd love that 9 in screen. Its at The GPS Store if anyone looking to get one. I'd love to have any help You can give.  GodBless & thanks You All for your help .
