7'3 to 7'6 heavy action rod, 7.1:1 reel, 50-60lb braid, lure of your choice. This is what I like. Welcome to the forum.

Do yourself a favor and try the rage bug...Not because they are a site sponsor... But because I've caught some serious fish with em. 

6'10" with a 7:1 and a 7'6" with a 7:1   Line depending on the cover I'm fishing.  Usually the shorter rod is around docks or in somewhere tight.  Line on that one is typically 20lb flouro unless I need to downsize for a finicky bite..... then I use a back up reel with around 15lb and just switch them out.    The longer rod is used for everything else.  The line on that is no less than 25lb flouro with a back up that has 65lb braid I can switch out to if the bite is in the nasty stuff.  

The cool thing about the flipping stick is it doubles as a good frog rod if you get a heavy/fast. I use my frog rod for jigs when it's too cold for topwaters. It's a Cabela's Tourney XT Frog model rod, 7'3" hvy/fast with a Lew's Tournament MB Speed Spool 7.5:1 reel, spooled with 50 lb. Power Pro braid. But some people like a bit more tip on their flipping rod.

It's according to what you are flipping and pitching into. I have different setups for where ever I am fishing.

1. Heaviest cover-timber/thick mats: megabass Super Red Demon with a Daiwa SV103

2. Moderate-heavy cover: Dobyns 746dx with a Megabass IP79

3. Light cover: Megabass orochi Pitch Perfect with Steez ltd sv 105

 

I use either power pro or suffix 832 braid or 20 to 25 lb Yo-Zuri or P-Line copolymer 

7 to 8 foot heavy to extra heavy,good aluminum framed reel,braided line 50-80 lb. you make the call on brand but that will get you in the ballpark.
