Fishing muddy water from spillway break

Featured Replies

Spillway broke in Oroville, one of the best bass lakes in all of CA. The area below is called Thermalito overlfow and it also has big bass. Going to be a muddy mess for a while.

Turning out to be a record winter for California. One to remember for a lifetime for sure.

It has been quite a turnaround in the North State this year.  To be honest, I am sick of the rain and the havoc it is creating in my yard, but it is nice to see the reservoirs  already full.  Do you think Trinity lake will be full this summer?

trinity lake will be full but not for long because I'm sure there gonna dump it big time this year most likely. it will be pretty full for most of the summer tho. having fished there 5 to 7 days a week there for the last 3 years all summer long I will tell you right now the fishing is going to flat out suck. the water levels have not been this high for like 6 or 7 years the bass will have so many new places to go and with such a small population its going to make the fishing virtually impossible. I predict winning bags in summer to run in the 8 to 10 pound range while last year I caught 20 pound bags easy sometimes 25 pound bags. all in all everyone that fishes trinity should be prepared for some pretty crappy fishing for the next few years until the lake goes down again or the fish re populate the lake in better numbers.

That's an understatement!

If I were you, I wouldn't be too concerned about fishing anywhere near Oroville for a long time.  I'd be more worried about getting the heck out of dodge and out of danger!

Its all fun and games until the emergency overflow fails and all that water goes down the drain.
