Client stopped by today and shared this picture. His friend's father caught these perch and a striper. I'm thinking this is a barred surf perch. I've never seen one this big.
Apparently the world record is 4.12 lbs. The smaller fish on the left looks like it's in that size range. The other on the right looks like a 5+ to me.
He did not have it measured or weighed. He ate it.

 

Be sad to catch a world record and not realize it and just eat it. Those do look big.
