one more rod to round out arsenal (Dobyns)

Featured Replies

I am trying to find another rod to finish/round out my arsenal and im trying to decide between the dobyns fury 703c Medium Heavy fast or 735c. Mag Heavy Fast

the rods i already have are

abu garcia ike series 6'4" Medium moderate

Dobyns FR703SF (Fury) Medium Fast

Dobyns 704C XP (Champion XP) Heavy Fast

Dobyns 705CB (Fury) Medium Heavy Mod.Fast

Get a new Sierra series.  I had a chance to handle one yesterday and they are almost as nice as the Champions.

The most versatile model in the Dobyns line(s) is the 734.  The 735 is a model you will eventually want regardless so, being it's on your list, that's a great choice. I have three Fury's (664,733,735) and they fish well above their price point. The Sierra will be just a tiny bit slower in it's action than the Fury. Something to consider.

Either grab a 734c, it's very versatile as Columbia Craw said above, or a 735c. If you fish frogs or jigs, you'll love the 735c.

I have the Champion DC 705C and love it. I chose it over the 735C because I can not fit the longer rod in my rod box.  The rods are similar but the 735 does it better.  It is amazing how well the 705C can throw a hollow bodied frog when matched up with a Daiwa Tatula 8-1 reel.

Thanks for the replies I went with the 735c. after thinking about it i could get more use out of that one with all the elephant ears slop that covers a couple places i fish in the summer I figured it would be better to get those fish out of there with the 735 over the 704 i already have. plus i could sill use the 6'10" MH lews I had planned on replacing I'll just use that rod till it breaks or whatever then I'll look at the 703
