Daiwa Alphas Air 2016

Hey Marks,

I do not own this reel, but I can tell you that it only holds 50 yds of 8lb test and it only has 8 pounds of drag. I'm not sure if you were aware of this or not. Either way, you can tell that this reel is built for very lightweight applications at close distances.

So it's safe to says it's not a jack of all trades reel, but rather a master of one (finesse).

Yep, definitely a BFS reel, probably not great for everyday use.  If you intend on using it for finesse casting, it should be a great reel.  I own the Alphas SV but not the Air.

I've heard nothing but great things about the reel as bait finesse small worm and jig reel.  It skipps relly well too from what i hear. My only concern would be that the cheaper Alphas SV could do the same job with nearly double the line capacity and still have Alphas spool compatibility.  The Alphas Air only accepts the Alphas Air spool meaning that it will forever be a bait finesse system reel (BFS) no matter your intensions down the road.  Not a deal breaker but something to consider.

Is it the same size as the 105 reel or it has no spools that will fit???

Don't get it, get a shallow SV spool.
