Tags and letters on Bass Hunter?

Featured Replies

I have the Bass Hunter EV and was wondering how you apply the letters to the hull. The texture is beaded as well as concave. I didn't know if they would stick. Also had the idea of putting them on plexiglass and screwing that to the hull. Any suggestions?

Paint them on. You can use a stencil and spray paint.

I still must put the registration sticker on.

I have a Pelican; it does not have the beaded texture that you show in your photos, even though, I had to sand the surface in order to get the Registration stickers to adhere. It does not add to the appearance! I like your idea of the plexiglass 'frame'. You might be able to rivet the frame and make it look even a little more finished.

Here's what I would do first before attaching anything to the boat. I would wipe the area down really good with isopropyl alcohol, then apply your registration numbers/letters, then using a hair dryer, go over each letter slowly to help soften the adhesive and vinyl to help it more easily conform to the surface. Don't rub the letters as that could stretch them, just apply pressure, preferably with a rag over your finger, this may or may not work but it won't be permanent if it doesn't work and you need to remove it.

This is what I did with my Pelican -- worked just fine.

Just got a Bass Baby (Bass Hunter).  My wife has a sweet vinyl cutter.  Got some Oracal 651 vinyl, cut out the letters/numbers, cleaned the surface with alcohol.  The vinyl didn't stick worth a dagbern to this boat's textured surface.  We might play with cutting vinyl as a paint mask.  Otherwise, I like the riveted "plaque" idea.

May not look pretty but when I had my Bass Hunter, I just used the reflective squares from Wal Mart and they stuck fine.  In Virginia, the only time you have to register them is if you are going to "power" them with an OB or TM.

I had a boat with a similar hull and boat numbers and registration stickers stuck without a problem. Just clean well before application.
