swim bait (resin cast)

Featured Replies

I have been tying flies and painting lure for a while and I am now starting to make swimbait, I'm going to cast it from resin, instal the hardware, paint and coat the lure (so far I've only made the clay blank)

Has any one done anything like this? And any tips you could give me?

Look up a guy on instagram called PhoneyFrogsUSA. He makes resin swimbaits and has a really good looking product. He is very talkative at local shows, and may be interested in passing along a few pointers.

I have not made any swim baits out of resin but I have made crankbaits. Alumilite resin is what I use which is very strong and picks up every detail from the mold.  Alumilite is not very buoyant itself so to make it float you have to add  microballons with it. I will have to find the mold and baits I made to post a pic.
