Delta fishing

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I wanted to know some good spots for around the delta. I live in the east bay and looking to fish the delta my first time from shore. Are there any good spots around the southern part of the delta closer to Antioch.

Try Clifton Court Forebay.  Close to the East Bay and you can walk quite a bit.  The Slough side is better for LMBs and the forebay better for stripers

Right there is a parking lot by the Forebay or on the levy with the other vehicles, just past Lazy M Marina. Like camman said, you've got the Forebay or Italian Slough to fish. I used to fish Italian out of a float tube a long time ago. Bethany Reservoir is close as well, but can be windy at times. Good luck, JB

Oh wow so if there's space on the side of the road, you're good to go? I google earth/street and there seems to be areas where cars park, I'm going to assume it's free?

Yep, it's free parking. If you decide to fish that area (Italian), it could be good as that area was just opened to boat traffic. BTW, Bethany Reservior is also free parking. Good luck, and let us know how it went. JB

Thanks for the advice! Ended up not going to the Delta area as it's a bit of a drive for me and I was still tired from the previous day's trip. I went to Calero Reservoir. It was a grind, but managed to land 6 fish. No pigs, biggest was a 3 lber. All of them on finesse jigs. It seems like most people had a tough day so I'm grateful I got what I got.

Next week I'm definitely going to make the hour trek up North. Have several options, Discovery Bay (dock heaven and less wind for kayakers like me), Clifton Court Forebay, Bethany Reservoir, and Frank's Tract (the farthest so leaning toward no). Decisions decisions......
