Power Pro vs Super 8 Slick

I've got both, and I like both.

SS8 is ... as the name says, "slick" and it is

a good deal quieter than regular PP. I've had

no issues with leader knots, and so forth.

Bottom line for me is SS8 is a great braid, just

as strong as reg PP, and, IMO, worth a try.

You may or may not like it. I know, tough to

spend the $$ on expensive braid and not like

it. You could always sell the surplus in the

Flea Market if you don't like it.

I believe one is a 4 strand and the other is an 8. For me personally I like regular Power Pro on baitcasters a lot more than SS8, but I like SS8 on spinning reels more than baitcasters. Maxcuatro is better than both of them, but usually a bit more.

Cabelas has Sufix 832 braid on sale for $11.99 per spool right now.

I've used 832 and the super slick. The 832 isn't as quiet but seems stronger and more durable. The ss is quiet and smooth but frays when knoting or if it gets nicked. I'm not super thrilled with the ss after using if for a month or so

the reason I ask is that I recently borrowed a friend's setup for a day because mine was too heavy to use with the small spinners we used for trout. He had on braid and I really liked it and I'm cnsidering switching from mono. One thing I noticed was that the line was like a sponge, it soaks up water on the spool and if you squeeze the line on the spool, the water will ooze out. Will the water absorption hurt the reel after a while?

I've never noticed the water buildup. It could be that

the coating has worn off? I've had plenty of reel turn

spray get on me. But I've never worried about my

Stradics and water that gets on the spool otherwise.

If they get dunked for some reason, I'll rinse them in

fresh tap water when I get home. Should be fine.
