Calling all Lews Fans

Featured Replies

I recently bought a LFS ($99) Reel. When i'm retrieving, i'm hearing some sort of noise in the reel. I lubed and oiled this reel last night. I'm still getting the same noise.

When you say lubed and oiled, did you take it apart? What is the noise you are hearing, is it a grinding or something else? Did you hear this noise before oiling and lubing the reel? Do you feel extra resistance when retrieving or is it just noise.

I heard it, before i lubed and oiled it. The noise sounds like brass gear rubbing on dry brass gears. I know it isn't true because i lubed the reel.

I think I'd be returning it or calling lews. Mine didn't make a sound, even before I got it home and lubed up.

I love mine,No problems at all.

If you heard it before doing anything to the reel I'd definitely give them a call and ask to replace it. They have great customer service so they shouldn't give you any trouble. I love mine and after a few years of use it's just as good if not better (after cleaning) than the day I got it.

This ^^^

Or if its brand new and purchased at a local store just take it back and exchange it. I mean a obvious defect should be a easy exchange at the store. I have several of the $99 LFS reels and they are a great reel with a good track record. But like all mechanical things mass produced occasionally a stepchild gets out the door. :)
