It only takes one fish to an entire day worthwhile. Good job, young man!

I wish I knew for sure, unfortunately my scale is at the bottom of that same pond. She was about 27.75 long and right at 15.75 girth

Finally someone who doesn't have a scale but took measurements!

Its a great looking fish! Ive caught a ton of 12 pounders if you count the 9 pounds of weeds that came with em! Its nice to see measurements and not the "11# fish i never saw 15 yards away, that broke off".

I am going to get yelled at for this post by many, so let me preface it by saying that is a great bass.  Congratulations on catching a huge fish, one that any member of this forum would be proud of.

My initial reaction when I saw the pictures was that that hawg was in the 7-9 lb class.  When you mentioned the fish was over 27" long, it took me back a little because my impression from the photo's was that it was shorter than that.  The first photo is a little tough to judge because of the way that it is being held out towards the camera.  The second picture includes your hand and the reel, so that gives us some perspective.  The fish appears to be about 6 1/2 times longer than your index finger and about 4 1/2 times longer than your spinning reel.  Most adult men's index fingers are about 3.5" long and most spinning reels are about 5" long, both of which end up putting the fish in the 22"-23" range (which puts it in the 7-8 lb range).

If I am wrong about this, I apologize up front.  I'm not trying to embarrass you or call you out, rather just pointing out what (to me) jumped out as kind of obvious and what I believe many others may have thought when they read these posts.

Once again, congratulations on catching that monster, very impressive.

Not sure how long my reel is but I have fairly large hands my index finger is 4.25 inches, I'm about 6'3

Then I stand corrected.  Congrats on the new PB.

Nice bass. Just for reference by buddy caught this bass & I measured it as 27" long with a 17.5" girth. It weighed 8lb-8ozs on a boga & a digital scale.

Your bass should be over 10 pounds with these measurements( Length * Length * Girth / 1200= estimated weight of bass). Congratulations on your new PB!

Great fish there young man...but keep her off the grass to ensure she lives on to be caught another day.

wooozer!! what a fish young man. congrats on the PB. SWEEEET!!!

my 27.5 inch length and 19 inch girth was still barely over 10 pounds. Projected weight would have been much higher. Stop using the online calculator since they are stupid and made to inflate your ego. Call it a 10 when you weigh it over 10! Aside from all that, awesome fish! You can tell it is at least in the 8 pound range and i would take that fish ANY day of the year!

I doubt the bass in the OP was even over 7lbs, looks like a spawned out female, not real fat.  Here is a pic of one right at 6 lbs I recently caught.  Probably very close in weight, definitely not 3 lbs apart.

I used a tool on this website and took proper measurements... I did this because my scale is at the bottom of a pond. So sorry that upsets some people...

It didn't upset me at all, I was just stating an opinion.  My experience is that most people over-estimate the weight of fish even when not trying to.

I always ask my friends to guess the weight of any large bass we catch while on the water.  Nobody has ever been low with their guess and most of the time they are way off.

The fish pictured in my previous post was 6 lbs. My buddy in the boat, who is an experienced angler, guaranteed me it was 8-9 lbs.
