My misses went to the local grain and feed store and picked up some cedarcide it's organic and safe for humans and animals. So far no ticks on my outside cats. The dog too when she remembers to spray him. The ticks are in full force here like I never seen before. With the warmer winter it didn't kill any ticks. The long cold spells of 10 degree weather and colder kills some of them. This year in ct there are mid sized black ones and the larger gray ones.(raisinets) Cedarcide won't hurt the cats if they clean themselves.

 

where can I fish that has no ticks? Lol

Cedar-based insect repellant! Great idea! I see there

are several brands using cedar oil on Amazon. Anyone

else have good experience with it? I've got two dogs 

and two cats and would love a natural solution as most

I've tried have failed utterly. Like there's no true (that 

I've found) mosquito repellant as good as DEET....

I have heard peppermint oil and lavender oil works as well. If I didn't have to spend so much time outside in the woods for work I'd get after these natural solutions... but for now, I'll suffer the deet.

I will have to try cedarcide.  I have gotten ticks on me while fishing in a boat out in the lake.  The only thing I can think of is that they are dropping off of the trees when I go under the limbs.

The issue I have with it is that I have snakes, and

cedar can be deadly. Afraid if I tend to the snakes

one day, not paying attention that I was just with

one of the dogs, bad things could happen.

 

But I still may try it.

They're bad here in the Carolinas too.

 

I hate going into those trees to retrieve baits...

 

           ...and I've never caught a bass there either!

Good luck with the ticks...and you might try the big Atlantic for a tick free fishing weekend!!!
