Drain plug?

Featured Replies

Is there a difference between t handle drain plug and a flip lock drain plug? Reason I ask is I had an old flip lock and replaced it with t handle and now I'm taking on some water. The new t handle one seems to fit right and it screws  it in as tight as it can go so I'm wondering if if I should go back to flip lock or maybe put some 3M Marine 5200 sealant around the hole?Help!!!?

The flip lock expands out a little extra when you flip it down. You were probably getting a better seal with it than you are with the screw in style. I had the same issue with my old johnboat and it stopped when I went back to a flip lock style.

I've been through this somewhat. I always have a few plugs laying in my splash well. I'm not a big fan of the "T" type either. I prefer the Stainless Flip Type. Flip up non't flip down. Flip it down grass or branch could catch it.

Thinking it was time for a new plug. Got a new T type plug at walmart. Took the boat out and it took on water first and second time to the point the pump ran. Put the old T type plug in the next three times and no water. The new one went in the trash.
