Ok, Not many replies for putting a boat in and fishing in port st lucie so I will move on to Lake O.

 

What are the best ramps on the east side of the lake? I hear J&S may be short and not so easy? thoughts? I have fished the lake from the south side but never from up here.

Unfortunately, I've only fished from the ramps on the south side as well.  Be careful on the lake now, the water levels are really low and lot's of props/lower units are getting damaged.  Good luck out there and let us know how you do.

I would suggest driving a bit farther and fishing out of Scott Driver or Harney Pond.

Find clean water at the outer grass edges or fish the river out of Scott Driver

I agree with Barehook.  I just don't like that part of the lake in low water conditions.  Go WEST young man!!!!!!!!!!

I'm staying away from the lake until its up another foot.....  I Just fixed my lower unit.

Thanks for the input guys. I get picture to stay away till the water comes up a bit. Looks like I will have to get the kayak out to fish for bass for awhile. Thanks again.

There are plenty of big bass in the rim ditch.

The Harney Pond Canal is plenty deep with a hard sand bottom.  It holds plenty of decent bass, so you don't even have to leave the canal.  Running the lake right now is just a crazy thing to do!  Lake needs to come up over 13 feet before I would ventue out on the lake.

Was out there yesterday. Water is still very low. Most boats had a hard time getting into the cuts near Slims Fish Camp.

 

Between the low water and hydrilla mats and very muddy water it is very risky to maneuver in those flats. I would say stay away from the lake till its up unless you are going to fish the rim canal or some other areas that aren't as low as the flats by slims.

 

We tried the Rim canal for a couple of hours and didn't get a bite.

Read today that water management is now pumping water north into Lake O since water levels are continuing to be dangerously high through the Broward everglades.  Seems a bit ridiculous to me being that we all know the natural direction that the water should be flowing but clearly I'm not an expert.  Also not sure how long this will go on or exactly how much it will impact Lake O water levels but apparently this started on Friday and will continue for a few weeks at least.  At least until July 15th.  Additionally I can't imagine water management will let water levels rise too much barring we are ramping deeper into hurricane season. Would be a mess should a storm actually hit prior to getting these water levels back in order.  But that's mother nature I suppose.

If I remember correctly, the last time water was pumped north into Lake O, it turned into a nasty algae bloom. I hope that doesn't happen again.
