Looking to get a second Stella spinning reel.I have the 2500 FI reel. The second will be used for drop shotting on a Loomis IMX pro 820 dsr. I do not use braid on my spinning gear much, and this set up will see a lot of time on clear lake crappies which I love to fish.  I will also use it for some shallow 15 to 20 ft bass DS and ned type work. I have a set up for heavier work. 

I am trying to decide on either a  1000 FI or a C2000 size. What are the differences. In body size . They hold approximately the same amount of line. 

Line will be 5lb floro or mono.

Some say that the drag will be better on the 2000 because of the larger spool diameter... I'm not sure this is the case on a high quality reel.

 

My recommendation would be to put both on the rod and see how it feels/balances.  That's the only way to know for sure.

Unfortunately that is not possible due to cost. 

I like the 1000 for the applications you describe. Maximum drag is not an important aspect

of a reel spooled with #5 line. I'm using #4 InvizX on mine.

I'd go for the 1000, if only because that size is my size

of choice for bass fishing - I've got a mess of 1000 Stradics.

 

For added drag, I just palm the spool with whatever pressure

I need, if at all. Loads and loads of bass over 6# caught with 

them.

I'm not sure, but I believe both use the same drag elements.

Why put an $800 reel on a $200 rod?  Shimano CI4 or Daiwa has some nice offerings in the $200 range.  I'd grab 2 NRX's for that price tag first.

Not what I asked and it is not a $200 dollar rod.

I also am not paying $800 for it.

I went ahead and purchased the 2500S. Same size that I have but with the shallow spool.
