I used to own an old Yamaha Waverunner and I was thinking of getting one and converting to a high tech fishing ride for river and small lake areas. These babies run in six inches of water, and I could mount a cuda 168 fishfinder on the nose with a shoot through hull transducer. Then I'll power the FF off of an extra 12 volt motorcycle battery in the engine compartment.

Then I thought of putting a thick coat of Rhino liner on the hull to protect it from sharp rocks. These older units are 7 feet long and about three feet wide. Stable as heck and easy to fish from. I could mount rod holders in the rear with bungees to keep the rods from bouncing out. There is a storage/ cooler under the seat for drinks and tackle bins.

I loved the one I had and could take it most anywhere. They are quiet and efficient. at idle they crawl around nicely like a trolling motor.

I could really see one of these making a sweet river rig.

Any thoughts besides I'm a stupid red neck who's been watching too much Red Green Handyman Corner?

haha i love that show....but i think you should do it, that would be really cool, as long as you can find some way to anchor yourself if you feel the need to stop and fish a spot.  oh and dont forget the pics.

If you trick that thing out to fish from, I want to see pics.  I've thought about doing that myself, except I don't own a jet ski.

There was a guy that use to do that very thing at Lake Hogen for stripers. We called him Bonsi Joe.

But laugh as we did he out fished us all and did it all the time.    

This reminds me of my trip last week to O'Neill Forebay to break in the boat.   So I'm getting the boat in the water and my buddy is lowering me in.  These two guys come in to the dock in what looks like a 7 foot plastic hull, green plastic lawn chairs duct taped to the floor, a trolling motor rigged to one end with a single battery attached and on the side of the boat, dragging behind a rope, are two stripers that have to be atleast 25 lbs. each.  Were getting into the Z22 and feel like schmucks because even though the purpose of the trip was to break in the motor, we've caught no fish .  

i had a kawaski jet ski and i would fish from it occasionally without any mods. it worked well for the fishing close to shore. good luck
