How to prevent Boomerang Tool SNIP from becoming dull?

Featured Replies

Hey guys! About 3 months ago I bought my first Boomerang SNIP Tool and loved the way it cut braid. I also used it to cut mono as well, however I found after a few months of use the tool became dull. I was wondering if any of you guys knew how to either sharpen the blades of the tool or how to preserve them?

Thanks,

Dane

Huh, I have had one for about 6 months and it is still sharp as ever.  Have you cut anything other than line with it?  I ruined a different cutter by using it on fiber weedguards.

I've found that cutting line other than braid will dull them.

So, I've slightly modified the way that I use them.  I use the inner half of the blades for braid and the outer half for fluoro, copoly, mono.  If cutting braid, I just ensure I cut in towards the 'hinge'....if other line, I keep it close to the opening.  Has worked quite well in the year plus that I've been doing it that way.

Replace it with Hemocuts.  They don't get dull.  Mine are over a decade old, still cut braid.
