Help! What to fish at sundown on a super windy day!

Featured Replies

Today is a windy day. This morning was calm and in the low 80's. I caught a nice 2lb bass on a Texas rigged worm. Tonight when I go out on the lake, I was wondering if anyone had any favorite baits to rig up during really windy conditions. I have a spinner bait on my spin reel but I was just curious if anyone has something different they like to fish! Thanks in advance!

How did it turn out for ya? Super windy day in the summer I usually run some sort of reaction bait- spinnerbait, crankbait, swim bait, etc. I will still have a jig tied on or even a shakey head, but will just up the weight of those to help me feel the bait through the wind.

A lipless crankbait is a good alternative to the spinnerbait...

It was alright. The wind died down a bit, but I found a cove in a stump field and the tree line negated the wind conditions a lot. All I have in a drop anchor so I got spun around a lot but other than that it was bad. I went with a spinner bait and also a Texas rigged senko. I caught a few dinks but nothing worth weighing. No one really relied before I went out on the water so I just stuck with what I had.

Buzzbait is my sundown lure .there is always one tied on windy or calm .  A chugger " big loud popper " is good too .
