I had an unfortunate incident this weekend and my spool of braid is running low.  Is it possible to tie more braid on?  I've never tied a leader and I'm unsure what knots to try. I've seen a uni knot, is there something else?  I need at least 100 feet additional line added

In that particular case I would probably pull it all off and start over. Unless you wanted to pull it off and add more backing to your spool then put the braid back on top of it. How many yards of braid do you think you have left on it?

A uni to uni works fine in this situation.

I second what Wingman87 suggested. Assuming you have enough braid on the reel to work with, pull it off and add some inexpensive monofilament as backing. Uni to Uni knot and reel your braid back on.

There is about 200' or so left on the spool.  I already have more braid so I was hoping to just top it off.  What would the reason be to pull the current braid off and back fill with something else?

I back all my reels so I get more line out of each spool. Most of the time I'll put 15-20 yards of cheap mono then fill the rest up with good line. 

Uni to uni is the knot you want.

 

If you are thinking of adding 100 feet, why not pull more off and add 150, which is 1/2 a 150 yard spool.  This way the knot is more likely to stay on the spool

150' is 1/3 of a 150 yd. spool.

Since you have quite a bit of braid left on your spool, and assuming you don't currently have a large amount of backing behind your braid, try this:

 

Instead of pulling the braid off first and then adding backing, first top up your spool to the desired level with a similar diameter mono that will become the backing (can use a uni-uni knot, alberto, or whatever here).  Then walk off all the line, go back to where you started, tie on the mono to your now empty spool.  Reel it all back in with a bit of tension, and you should have a perfectly filled spool with mono backing, topped with reversed braid (freshest on top), with no waste.

As was mentioned you probably do not want the knot in your "working" line passing through the guides on a cast and retrieve. Better to have the knot deeper into the spool where it would only see the light of day if a monster fish makes a big run against your drag (unlikely to happen with a bass).

You want at least 60 yards of fresh braid on what is now your backing line so you don't get down to the backing when casting. A simple blood knot works to join all line types onto spools. The Uni knot will also work and is a good knot to join 2 different diameter lines.
