Youth Sponsorship help

Featured Replies

Hello, I am a youth (15 Years old) and an avid Fisher

I was wondering what help you could give to me about getting sponsors and what they can help you do.

I used to be sponsored for snowboarding, and had gotten free stuff and what not.

Anything you know would help.

Thank you!!

The two worlds are totally different.  I have coached dozens of fully sponsored Snowboarders to include athletes on the US team, and can tell you that obtaining support on the snow is much easier than fishing.  My brother in law is on the loomis/ shimano program and the requirements are different. In fact his son, who in his own right is a great fisherman is just starting down that road and he is a college senior.

I don't mean to squash your hopes, but SB assistance is far easier to come by.

Good luck

Edit...most SB sponsorships are through local shops and and very few go right to the company and those that do are few and far between.  The fishing industry isn't nessessarily the same

Thanks for the help! If you were getting a sponsorship how would you do so?

Start with writing your resume and think about what you bring to a company/manufacturer i would assume that if you are at this point, you must have a relationship with a shop or two.  If not, you need to.  Quick question, are you still competition in snowboarding, if so what level? (USASA, USSA, FIS, Rev-tour)?
