Storm Arashi Flat 7

Featured Replies

The Storm Arashi rattling flat 7 did the trick yesterday evening. I bought it on clearance from BPS and thought I could come close to matching the forage. I was fishing in the Kayak and was tossing a Berkley pitbull in the blue back color with no luck so I  anchored up and swapped out to the Arashi. First cast and bingo, fish on. Anyone else switch up crankbait and have immediate success just in change of action and color? Depth was the same on both baits for the most part.

Nice Bass ~ Congrats.

btw - did you end up catching any flies ?

i've had something similar happen while throwing a rattling arashi 5 then switching to a kvd 2.5 silent. It made the whole silent vs rattles in a crankbait debate pop up in my head and re-think if my water was clear or stained

Lol, no flies and I thought why not Stick my tongue out in that picture because I sent it to my son while he was in school and I was fishing. Probably not the best idea but oh well. The lake I typically fish is very murky and stained with visibility being just inches usually but this past week it has been very clear with about three to four feet of visibility and very little stained color.

Nice fish and good call on the change!! I've done the same thing you have many times, I try to power fish first unless conditions dictate otherwise but if what I'm doing isn't working I'll switch up. I don't have any Arashi Flat 7s but I do have the Rapala DT Flat 7s and they are a great change up to a bait like a DT-6 or a round crank. I use the flat sided baits more in colder water but during the summer I'll crank the 6' to 8' zone early and if I'm not getting bit with a round body crank I'll often go to a flat side before I change tactics altogether and a lot of times that tight wiggle will trigger the fish to bite when the wide wobble of the round body didn't work.

Love me some DT 7's, awesome in colder weather or when a slight change is needed.
