Help fishing classic lures (Lucky 13, Pop-R, etc)

Featured Replies

So I went and looked at poppers and gravitated to what my dad and grandad had in their tackle boxes. That meant Heddon lures like the Lucky 13, Arbogast Hula Popper, Jitterbug and Rebel Pop-R. I bought one of each. I used these as a kid and never did well with any of them.

I already have two colors of spooks but I find it hard to walk the dog sitting down in an inflatable kayak.

Any tips on how to get the most action out of my new topwater lures while sitting down?

I was told I should shelve the buzzbait and switch to poppers if I want big fish and numbers at the lake I fish.

My opinion , you were given poor advice .

Edited. That part was irrelevant to the question I asked.

Yeah , I knew that .

When fishing in a kayak one is limited to how many combos that can be carried . Short rods make it easier to impart action on top waters . I can walk a spook around a stump with an old 5.5 foot pistol grip Lightning rod . Short rods are unpopular but thats what I use  for walking baits .
