Shrink tubing

Just put some shrink tubing on some senko's and worms for wacky rigging.   Love that the hook is now going across the bait.  Thought it would be a pain to rig and heat the tubing but was easy ... pezy.  Now ...with a nail weight with the lead ball on the end...life will be good.  Will  be testing tonight.

It works well, but the senko will still get busted up,

just maybe not as quick as w/o.

I have pretty much stopped using shrink wrap on my

wacky rigged baits. Not for any particular reason other

than I didn't see that the lifespan was that much better.

Would you say that heat shrink is any better than o rings?

It's cheaper... :)

Don't use O's myself, and to make it like I want it

(perpendicular to bait) I'd have to use 2 Os.

Disadvantage is you end up hooking thru the bait,

usually, while with Os you don't have to. I suppose

if you don't shrink the wrap - or you use a large

enough wrap you can do the same, but you run the

danger of the worm slipping out...

Well....tried the shrink last night during a small tourney....Does it hold the bait good...yes.  Did I catch with it no!!!!!!  My delima continues with this set-up.  Had a few bites but believe they were all small fish.  Think they were just grabbing the end of worm as I could tell the worm had moved a bit in the collar but not much.  I like it better than the "O" rings....except now I have to figure out what to do with all the rings.  Have really tried to get this system to work and it's just not doing it for me as well as tube or bug.  Think will save for around docks on other lakes.

I've used both. I am now using shrink tubing. It holds better than an O-ring. However the biggest problem, esp with Senko's, is how easily they crack and break, even with a keeper ring. When one gets a crack I replace it with a fresh one, and Mend-It or superglue the broken ones at home.

I tried shrink tubing but still lost quite a few Senkos. Rubber tubing worked better for me.

Still using o-ring's here. I have tried both shrink and vinyl tubing but neither worked very well for me.

I'll keep using the o-ring's. At $3.99 per 400 they are cheap enough.

I like the vinyl idea. I did try latex (surgical) tubing and it worked too. The elasticity may help some, but... Senko's are simply fragile things. There are other more durable stick-worms out there too. And they catch bass very well too. Although none I've tried have the sink rate (and action) of a Senko. I suppose the Bizzbaits worm is close in sink rate and action seems to follow sink rate. Softness weighs in too, and that, with all those salt grains, is where the fragility comes from too.

Are you getting enough hook in the bass's mouth with that EWG set up ? ... For perpendiculr rigging - what if you drilled a small hole in the PVC tubing  at 3 o'clock (hook going in ) and 10 ~ 11 o'clock (coming out) ?

This is works great. But I did switch to Owner Mosquito hooks bc someone on here recommended them. Seem to work the same.

Don't miss too many with this set up.
